Finish the Nexton Parkway widening
If you live in District 5, you already know the problem. Cane Bay, Nexton, and Carnes Crossroads went up faster than the road network under them. The Nexton Parkway widening is the single biggest fix available, and Amy’s job is to make sure it stays on the books and gets built.
That work is already moving. Amy, along with her colleagues on Council, has fully funded the design and engineering of the Nexton Parkway expansion two years earlier than anticipated — which pulls the whole project forward by roughly two to three years.
From here it means keeping the funding in place through every budget cycle, keeping the schedule honest, and holding the county and its partners to the dates they publish — not the dates they hope for.
- Fully funded the design and engineering — two years ahead of schedule
- Keep the widening funded and on schedule through every budget cycle
- Push road capacity to be built alongside development, not years after
- Give residents a straight answer on timelines instead of a shrug
- Coordinate with SCDOT and the BCD Council of Governments so county projects are not orphaned
